The employment application process

Step 1: View the position description and selection criteria

Step 2: Address the selection criteria

In your covering letter, you are required to address each selection criteria individually. This should include examples outlining your suitability for the role, level of achievement/skill or philosophy as it relates to the criterion and then specific examples of when and how you have developed/used the particular skill or gained the specific area experience.

Step 3: Provide documentation

  1. A cover letter (1.5 pages) addressing the selection criteria
  2. A full resume
  3. Be able to provide the following documentation upon request:
    1. the names, address and telephone numbers of three recent professional referees (immediate supervisor/s) who are in a position to comment about your performance in relation to the above criteria from your most recent employers over the past 5 years
    2. relevant academic transcripts
    3. a copy of your Queensland College of Teachers registration, valid paid Blue Card/Exemption Card or AHPRA registration
    4. verification of your full vaccination status as per the Queensland Government mandate for COVID-19 in Educational Institutions
    5. verification of your right to work in Australia.

Step 4: Submit your application

Please ensure that your application is submitted by the closing date and time provided in the advertisement for the position. Late applications may not be accepted (please note that, from time to time, the School may fill positions prior to the closing date).

Applicants will receive an email acknowledging receipt of the application.
 

Shortlisting

The shortlisting process will generally take from 1 to 3 weeks to complete. The time needed to complete each process will vary according to the number of applications received and the availability of the panel members.
 

The interview

For applicants who will be invited to proceed to interview, Human Resources will contact you via telephone or email to arrange a suitable time for the interview to take place. Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have at that time regarding the interview process including the panel composition.
 

Unsuccessful applicants

Applicants who have not been shortlisted will be advised in writing as soon as possible after the shortlisting/interview process has been finalised. Churchie appreciates the time and effort all candidates put into their applications. While we understand it is disappointing when an application is not successful, it is the School’s policy not to provide individual candidate feedback.
 

Screening and compliance requirements

Churchie supports the rights of children and young people and is committed to the safety, welfare and wellbeing of students and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All candidates are required to undergo a screening process prior to appointment. 

While assessing a candidate’s suitability for the role, consideration will also be placed on a candidate’s understanding and commitment to the Code of Conduct, especially how it applies to the safety and wellbeing of children attending Churchie. This is part of our selection criteria and assists us in ensuring that we engage staff that will contribute to creating a safe and supportive environment.

All preferred applicants’ details are provided to the Director of Professional Standards, Anglican Church Southern Queensland to be checked against the Anglican Church’s National Professional Standards Register. 

The above checks are complemented by checking the applicant’s identity. This includes the verification of consistency with items such as qualifications. To be considered for an academic position, applicants must be currently registered or be eligible for Teacher Registration with Queensland College of Teachers. For all other positions, applicants must have a valid Blue Card or AHPRA registration (whichever is applicable for the appointment and position).

All successful candidates must be eligible to work in Australia and be fully vaccinated.
