International learning

Posted on 24 September 2018

During the mid-semester school break, Churchie’s three groups of Modern Languages students will travel to China, Spain and Japan for immersive study and cultural experiences.

The China tour will visit Shanghai Yan’an High School, which will be the eighth time since 2004. Students will stay with Chinese families for a few nights, will attend classes with their homestay buddies and visit historical sites such as the Great Wall, The Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven.

The Spanish tour is Churchie’s inaugural excursion, reflecting the growing interest in Spanish as a subject area since its introduction a few years ago. The group will visit Madrid, Toledo, San Sebastian and Barcelona and stay with Spanish families, attending school with their homestay buddies and seeing the wonderful sites of Pamplona.

The Japanese tour will visit Mie High School in Matsusaka. Churchie has a wonderfully long and rich history with Mie, this year celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of our partnership. The boys will stay with host families for five nights and attend school with their buddies, they will also visit sites in Hiroshima, Kyoto and Nara as well as attending a Sumo tournament in Tokyo.

We are proud to offer Churchie’s language students these valuable international learning experiences and wish them all the best in their travels.
